We are all crazy about animals round here, so when we had the opportunity to stay with a Couchsurfer called Ken who had mini-donkeys, as well as a host of dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys and horses, how could we resist? Hanging out with the animals was a great prelude to our show at the Conservatory in Oklahoma City. The venue was far from full, just a handful of people really, but as Philippe said at the end of the show, when it comes to the audience there’s quality and quantity and tonight it was all about quality. The small crowd showed their appreciation by buying quite a lot of our merch – T-shirts, CDs, vinyls – which was encouraging. We appreciated their support and the evening ended with a smile.
Ken and Edda’s hospitality didn’t end with mini-donkeys. Philippe is currently in the sauna – one of his ‘top five pleasures of life’ and Will and Zack are out smoking a cigarette on the chilly but sunny patio overlooking the Oklahoma woods. We were greeted this morning by bagels, bacon and eggs all round as well as four dogs to scurry around our legs. And still basking in the memory of last night’s rocking show.
Life is rather good.
